FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED

  • WHY ARE YOUR COLONICS THE BEST IN NEW YORK?

Most colonic centers in New York are operated by untrained staff using unregulated Woods-Gravity systems and Colenz devices meant for home use.  These devices can expose the patient to unpleasant odors, fecal matter and fecal contamination.  At Fluid Water Therapy, we only utilize the FDA-registered Angel of Water colon hydrotherapy systems and all our therapists are trained and certified by the International Association of Colon Therapists (I-ACT).

  • HOW DOES A COLONIC COMPARE TO AN ENEMA?

An enema only reaches the rectum and lower part of the colon.  Colon hydrotherapy reaches the entire length of the colon and is significantly more effective in removing fecal matter- "one colon irrigation is equivalent to 30 enemas" according to Dr. Norman Walker, a vegetable juicing pioneer.

  • ARE COLONIC TREATMENTS PAINFUL?

Absolutely not.  In fact, most of our clients report that their colonics sessions are both refreshing and relaxing.

  • HOW MANY COLONIC SESSIONS DOES IT TAKE TO CLEAN THE PATIENT'S ENTIRE INTESTINAL TRACT?

The entire length of the colon can be cleaned usually within 4 to 5 sessions.

  • ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS FROM COLONICS?

We always recommend that you consult your physician or licensed healthcare practitioner if you have any concerns about your health or the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy. Contraindications include, but are not limited to — recent colon, rectal or abdominal surgery, congestive heart failure, intestinal perforations, carcinoma of the rectum, fissures or fistula, severe hemorrhoids, abdominal hernia, renal insufficiency, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, blood in stool, first or last trimester of pregnancy, and cirrhosis of the liver.

  • IS THERE ANY DANGER FROM BACTERIAL CONTAMINATION?

Fluid’s Angel of Water system utilizes single-use, sterile rectal nozzles and a multi-stage sanitation protocol. We use sterilized disposables, detailed sanitation protocols, and EPA-registered disinfectants to remove the danger of contamination.

  • HOW LONG DOES A COLONIC SESSION LAST?

A typical colonic session usually lasts 30 to 40 minutes so as to achieve effective colon cleansing without causing electrolyte and hydration imbalances. In most cases, a patient should expect to undergo four colonic sessions if he or she wishes to cleanse the entire length of the colon.

  • DOES HAVING A MENSTRUAL PERIOD AFFECT THE COLONIC THERAPY’S EFFECTIVENESS?

Not at all. Some practitioners consider it a particularly good time to have a session since the body is already undergoing a cleansing cycle. Nonetheless, the decision is strictly a matter of client preference.

  • WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE FOR A COLONIC SESSION?

You should refrain from eating within 2 hours prior to your session. Relax… and maintain a positive, cheerful attitude.

  • WILL I EXPERIENCE ANY DISCOMFORT OR FATIGUE AFTER MY COLONIC SESSION?

Probably not.  Some clients have reported a slight tiredness similar to a post-workout feeling.  Therefore, we recommend that you sip warm liquids after your therapy to soothe your system.

  • CAN I WORK RIGHT AFTER A COLONIC SESSION?

Absolutely!  You can work just as you would after a regular bowel movement.
